“Recovery for Life” Program is an Outreach of Leland Family Ministries:

Love Everyone Lonely And Needing Direction

Youth Drug Education Programs: Available Upon Request

Youth Leadership Council:  The Youth Leadership Council will be made up of high school students from across Polk County, Florida who want to raise awareness among their peers and in their communities about the devastating effects of methamphetamine.  There will be students (number to be determined) from each city in Polk County, who will come together once a year to form a Youth Leadership Summit.  In the meantime, the Youth Leadership Council will come together once a month at a designated site to meet with one another to discuss how they can help stop the methamphetamine epidemic.

Girl Scout Patch Program:  A patch program will be implemented to raise drug awareness within the Girl Scout troops in our communities. You can download the program plan here. Girl Scouts can download the entry form here. You can also enter your essay here.

The basic drive brain structures to care for a child are damaged by methamphetamine.
Meth use severely compromises mental ability and approaches the severity of mental retardation while using.
A single dose of methamphetamine is toxic enough to the hippocampus (the brain’s center for short term storage and processing) to impair short term and long-term object memory. Learning new skills for a job while using becomes nearly impossible.
Sexual dysfunction results from prolonged use of meth – eventually inhibiting the ability for sexual relations.

Battery Acid Effect: The toxic chemicals associated with meth use leave holes in brain tissue.
